Florida police get last laugh on criminal who taunted them on Facebook

When the Polk County Sheriff’s Office in Winter Haven, Fla., announced on its Facebook page this month that it was looking for Logan Hale, the 21-year-old burglary suspect decided to make his presence known.

Hale apparently began leaving messages on the post under the name Logan FinallyFree Hale, taunting deputies.

Polk Sheriff: “Logan Finallyfree Hale – remaining “at large” is only going to result in your having to change your FB name from “Finallyfree” to “Back In Jail” – it would be wise for you to turn yourself in to the nearest PCSO facility”. Hale was spotted by deputies around 5:00 p.m. Thursday in Lakeland.

“When you catch them, make sure the judge keeps them in jail much longer”, Facebook user Sharon Anderson McFadden wrote. And at some point someone thought to be Hale responded, taunting the sheriff. Family members said Hale was planning to turn himself in Thursday, but deputies said they found him before he was able to do so.

“You need to surrender immediately to the sheriff’s department”.

A Florida man was arrested after authorities said he taunted the sheriff’s office on Facebook.

Polk County deputies quickly responded to the provoking posting, pointing out that Hale and his accomplice, Tyler Thornton, have each been jailed five times before. “863-298-6200”.

The sheriff’s office posted Hale’s picture to alert the public and ask people for information.

According to WFTV, Sheriff Grady Judd wrote back, “Well, it’s your choice”. He was sought on charges of Armed Burglary, Grand Theft of Firearm, Grand Theft over $10,000, and Dealing in Stolen Property.

“Finally Free just can not be – Logan Hale belongs in jail”, the Facebook post began.

This time he got a more comprehensive warning from officers. You can download an app for iPhone and Droid to anonymously report crime.
