About a week ago we reported on a rumour that Microsoft is planning to hold a launch event in October where a slimmer, disc-less Xbox One console would be announced.

He doesn’t go into any details about the possibility of seeing a redesigned Xbox One, so it’s unclear if Microsoft is going to release a new version of the console in the near future.

While there are likely a few Xbox fans out there that like the idea of a smaller, quieter, all-digital Xbox One console, it doesn’t appear to be happening just yet.

However, the Xbox One isn’t quite ready for such a “Mini” revamp, it seems. The confirmation has come from the head of Xbox division at Microsoft, Phil Spencer who sometimes reveals things like this through his personal accounts. And thanks to exclusives like Rise of the Tomb Raider, Forza Motorsport 6 and Halo 5, there’s no reason it shouldn’t. Add in the fact that the Xbox One is now 50$ cheaper than the Playstation 4, and there are frequent bundles that run from time to time, for the same price. Xbox One is less powerful in comparison, hence will remain a step behind all its life. If you are okay with playing games at a lower resolution, then Xbox One, for 2015 at least, is a great purchase.
