With the latest beta build of iOS 9 being released a month ago, it would seem that the new version of the mobile operating system is almost ready for prime time.

A number of users have reported this on the Reddit forum.

iOS 9 also brings a major update to Apple Maps by adding public transit routes, while Siri is now more contextualized.

The INQUIRER team was affected by the issue, which saw a pop-up tell us to ditch our beta version of iOS 9 and upgrade to the full-fat release. But when they headed to the “Software update” section in settings, where updates are usually found, there was nothing waiting for them. “I tried taking a screenshot, but of course I turned the screen off. I was slightly excited but then I didn’t actually have any updates”, said a Redditor.

Tech experts believe that Apple changed its stance on how its operating system is tested because more testers mean that there is less chance of bugs and glitches to occur in the final version.

iOS 9 was first unveiled during Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference back in June.

More specifically, iOS 9 is expected to start rolling out to beta users immediately after the announcement on September 9, but not to the general public. iOS users who are not part of the beta should receive the latest iOS version one week later than beta users, on September 16. However, this could be an indication that Apple is preparing for the GM version.

While Apple has yet to comment, the glitch suggests that iOS 9 will see a prompt release following the firm’s imminent launch event on Wednesday.
