Houston Texans and Washington Redskins Brawl at Joint Practice — NFL News

Professional football is still a month away, but some serious heat erupted at the end of a practice Saturday between the Washington Redskins and Houston Texans.

Ryan Kerrigan had a very good season last year but I think he’ll get even better in 2015.

“I think he can play tackle”, said NFL Network’s draft analyst Mike Mayock in February. Gruden said it remains to be seen how he will perform in full pads and with live tackling, but he’s seen nothing to give him concern. “(Practicing) the third day in shorts, there’s no way they can really fight because there’s no contact”. Gruden did admit that possibly with the joint practices the past two sessions, the physicality and aggressiveness has gone up which could lead to more minor injuries popping up.

TE Logan Paulsen and OLB Preston Smith joined the injury report by practicing with their rehabbing teammates.

In fact, the teams were involved in three separate fights on both practice fields in a five-minute span.

However, as soon as the league and NFL Films announced that the Texans would be the subject team on HBO’s Hard Knocks, Saints head coach Sean Payton wanting to do the league no favors said “No thanks” to joint practices.

Former UVa offensive lineman Morgan Moses is getting a chance to earn a starting spot on the Redskins offensive line. We got better this week.

Nobody did get hurt here-that we’re aware of, but on a slow August Saturday afternoon we’ll take this story and be darn happy to share it. So, it took a little bit of time. Redskin’s running back Matt Jones ran over rookie cornerback Kevin Johnson causing a strong reacting from both sidelines.

Baker says the Texans were angry because the Redskins got the best of them in their joint workout on Friday.

Probably the biggest free agent signing for the Redskins this offseason was of DE Stephen Paea.

We were in the run game and we feel they were being overly aggressive, so we got aggressive back and things happened“, Washington tight end Niles Paul said.

Play eventually resumed, but it wasn’t long before punches were being thrown again.

Gruden and Texans coach Bill O’Brien initially tried to let their teams know the fighting wasn’t acceptable, but Gruden added: “Unfortunately, it wasn’t two people”. We will make them as carefully and consistently as we can. It could be the pairing that opens the season. However, he struggled, especially in pass coverage. They waived injured cornerback Tevin Mitchel and safety Phillip Thomas….

According to Trent Williams, Moses was looking more mature.

“I love Trent and the way he works”, Callahan said. “We enjoy coaching him”. That’s why he was upset with his players after the fight.

Tweets by a Washington Post reporter indicated some Washington players said the Texans were “being a little dirty”.
