Bono has become the world’s richest musician – thanks to his shares in Facebook.

As a result, he overtakes Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney – who has a $1.16bn fortune – as the world’s richest pop star.

In 2009, he bought a 2.3 percent share in the social media network for £56 million with Elevation Partners, an investment group he co-founded. The ethical clothing company was founded by Bono and his wife Ali Hewson in 2005 and turned out to not be quite the success they hoped.

Today the percentage will be worth 940 m pounds, producing Bono’s enterprise gain him more in a final 6 years in comparison to the all of his remarkable song work, such as almost 40 existence being a vocalist in U2.
