Verizon’s DROID Maxx 2 Back Covers Leaked

The launch makes Canada the world’s first market to boast the availability of the new Motorola handset, which is part of the company’s brand-new smartphone line-up.

Moto X Play will show up on Verizon Wireless later in 2015 as the Droid Maxx 2 and it will cost around $300. Given that the Moto X Play is available via Moto Maker meaning that it can be customized, we suppose it doesn’t come as a surprise that the DROID Maxx 2 is customizable as well.

Motorola recently introduced a trio of handsets namely the Moto X Play, Moto X Style and Moto G 2015. As for the pricing, the report further mentions that it will cost around $300 off-contract. That should appeal to Verizon customers who want an affordable smartphone without being tied to a contract, and it ties in roughly with the price of the X Play in Europe.

Verizon is also rumored to be working on the Droid Turbo 2 for release later this year. In the US, the Moto X Style is being sold as the Moto X Pure Edition through Motorola’s website. You can expect a similar price for the DROID Turbo 2.

The Droid Turbo 2 will offer feature described to be an unbreakable screen. Most devices use the traditional OLED displays, but a POLED display means that the device will carry smaller bezels and thinner displays, which are more flexible and resilient to damage. Since the Moto X Play packs a generous 3,630mAh capacity battery, the DROID MAXX 2 should have no issues living up to the “MAXX” heritage. The Droid Turbo was one of the most impressive flagship devices launched a year ago, so we do have high expectations from its successor as well. Bear in mind that none of this is official but Phandroid seems fairly certain that it’s sources are reliable.

Apart from the Verizon DROID branded back cover and additional Verizon touches to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, the DROID MAXX 2 should be pretty much identical to the global Moto X Play. But the device, under its new name, Motorola DROID Maxx 2, is slated to be launched exclusively on Verizon later this year.
