The incident occurred at United Gate 74 round eight:30 p.m.

Several people were injured when a hangar that was under construction at Newark Liberty global Airport collapsed this afternoon. Pentangelo says nine workers were inside the building at the time and all are accounted for. Four were taken to University Hospital in Newark with non-life-threatening injuries.

Two were reported to be seriously hurt, although they are expected to recover.

Massachusetts resident Michael DeMarco had arrived from Hartford, Conn., a few hours earlier and was supposed to catch an 8 p.m. flight to Fort Lauderdale, Port Authority spokesman Joe Pentangelo said.

The 90,000 square-foot Hangar 14 was owned by United Airlines but had not been used for about 10 years.

The history-rich building welcomed President Nixon in May 1971, who spoke there after taking a helicopter tour of Gateway National Recreation Area, according to CBS New York.
