New Apple TV will run iOS 9

It adds, “We are told that Apple’s focus on Apple TV App Store apps has been video-centric applications, which would allow media companies to release new channels on the Apple TV on their own schedule, and not on Apple’s”.

The Apple TV may be a lot cooler than many expected, but don’t expect an Apple-branded streaming service to accompany the tech – yet.

However, given that the codes are a bit vague, it is still unclear if the same feature that was introduced to the MacBook and iPhones will soon make its way to the Apple TV.

Last year, Apple sent out invites for its September 9th event on August 28th. However, Apple still need more time to do much since the developers would require more attention. The upcoming Apple TV will have support for Siri.

And if this is indeed Apple’s plans, it’s fiercest rival, Samsung, reportedly won’t be left behind as they will also launch the newest Samsung Galaxy S7. Gesture controls will be supported, and it’s possible if not exactly likely that the new remote could feature Force Touch. It could also feature a small speaker, a microphone for interacting with Siri, and a headphone jack for private listening. Voice control even works incredible well on the Amazon Fire Stick. Like Twitter’s iPad app, iPhone 6 Plus owners can now compose a direct message on the right side of screen, for example, while simultaneously viewing their other message threads on the left. Users could say “search for The Daily Show” instead of clicking on each letter. Finally, the microphone could be used for taking phone calls through your television, if your phone is out of reach.

For the first time, the Apple TV may also be opened up to the app community, with Apple expected to unveil a software development kit (SDK) that allows developers to build apps.

Apple obviously isn’t talking about the iPhone 6s yet, but thanks to rumors, we have some pretty good leads regarding its release date. Naturally, it will be a TV-optimised version of the operating system, but it should serve to support new features like the previously reported Siri integration. There have been reports earlier that the planed live TV service will not launch in 2015.
