Banksy opens new art-themed park ‘Dismaland’

If you squint hard enough, Banksy’s latest popup exhibit known as Dismaland has an eerie resemblance to the happiest place on earth!

Another wrote: “Dismaland website is not playing the game for tickets”.

It has transformed the Somerset resort’s derelict Tropicana Lido which was built in 1937 and became Europe’s biggest outdoor swimming pool before it closed in 2000.

This guy is definitely not a theme park PR. Among those artists are fellow social feather roughers Damien Hirst and Jenny Holzer.

Ms James also went on to explain that the crumbling high rise blocks seen littering the background on some newsreels were not some recreation of the attack on the World Trade Centre but were merely rented holiday apartments.

The doors will open to the rest of the public today though tickets for the sessions proved hard to buy yesterday due to the large amount of traffic to the website. Buying tickets to a place like Disneyland isn’t particularly hard, because they actually have a functioning ticket site and plenty of capacity. Banksy admitted to tearing up at Killer Mike’s speech from the group’s show in St. Louis the day Darren Wilson failed to be indicted. The art alone shows beautifully disturbing portrayals of the symbols we relate to the world-famous theme park. This statement sheds some light on the level of political corruption that exists in our society, and there is no doubt that this new version of Disneyland has certainly come at a very timely moment.

The pop-up exhibition will also include a gothic sculpture park, a bonfire where books by novelist Jeffrey Archer will be incinerated daily, and an oil caliphate themed mini-golf course, all anchored by a Disney-like castle and a rainbow-colored pinwheel tangled in plastic.

An abandoned castle looming above a scummy moat; a dead Cinderella hanging limply from her crashed pumpkin carriage; a grim reaper hunched over in a bumper vehicle – these are just a few of the highlights of a new “bemusement park” in England.

One thousand residents of Weston-Super-Mare, where Banksy’s anti-Disney carnival is based, were given first dibs on tickets but everyone else has been battling it out online to try and snag tickets.

Run the Jewels are among the artists recruited to perform at Banksy’s new Dismaland art exhibit/theme park, and before Killer Mike and El-P visit the artist’s latest creation on September 4th, the rap duo chatted with Banksy for The Guardian.
