Salesforce has unveiled what it calls the “next generation” of its Analytics Cloud platform, which the company says will deliver actionable insights across the entire Customer Success Platform.

New wave analytics apps will help to expand the power of wave analytics to a greater range of business users and industries. And because Wave Analytics is built on Salesforces trusted, multi-tenant, open architecture, Wave analytics apps are deeply connected to business processes and workflows, enabling business users to act on insights instantly to keep their business moving forward. And because Wave is natively integrated with Salesforce, Wave Actions will be automatically pushed from Wave into the corresponding Salesforce record. Using the dashboard, they can instantly assign a task to a rep directly from the cloud application to address the problem.

The San Francisco based cloud company is also looking to take advantage of the growing IoT market. Now, with Wave visualizations those metrics will be brought to life through a new, intuitive experience for designing and editing dashboards, including resizing and rearranging components and running reports.

More to come on Wave’s progress later in the week once we’ve had a deeper dive via the Analytics Cloud keynote on Thursday. Salesforce has also revamped the Analytics Cloud’s user interface in a bid to encourage users to become more adventurous in their creation of reports and dashboards. Salesforce has added new options for users of its Analytics Cloud intelligence tool. It’s becoming possible to embed dashboards from the Analytics Cloud into other parts of Salesforce, and new Wave Actions allow salespeople to take action on dashboards based on what they see. “With the power of the Salesforce Wave Analytics Platform, we’re able to provide our customers with a complete, panoramic picture of how the organisation is operating so they can make smarter, more strategic decisions about how to operate more efficiently and effectively”.

Sales Wave Analytics App is now in pilot with select customers and is expected to be generally available in English in October 2015. The product itself is still in beta testing with a handful of clients, and the company hopes for general availability sometime next year. While MHCA used the Sales Cloud and the Service Cloud, Estes was concerned about spending thousands of dollars for an adequate number of Wave licenses.

“Dreamforce is the Grammys, TED and the World Economic Forum all rolled into one”, said Peachey, the company’s vice president of solutions and product marketing.

Perhaps most interesting, however, is the news that Microsoft (yes, the Microsoft that competes heavily with Salesforce in the CRM world) is using the platform to combine application log files across its Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and OneDrive) alongside point of sale, device installation and customer support data in order to get a complete view of the customer.
