Lee was rushed to the hospital Tuesday night to deal with a buildup of fluids and is expected to be monitored for a couple of days.

A person close to Lee’s family confirmed her hospitalization, but wasn’t authorized to speak about Lee’s medical condition and spoke on condition of anonymity, the AP reported.

Lee announced on May 12 that she’s battling breast cancer and was diagnosed on March 27, about 20 minutes after posing for a photo shoot for People’s “Most Beautiful” issue. Andrew Cuomo, Sandra’s boyfriend left a Billy Joel concert at Nassau Coliseum early to be with Sandra upon hearing of her hospitalization. She said doctors had described her as a “ticking time bomb”, which fueled her decision to have both breasts removed despite having cancer in only one.

“She knew something was wrong”, the friend continued.

The preexisting ailment puts the 49-year-old in danger of developing blood clots, the source said.

It started by just experiencing pain and feeling exhausted.

The report quotes a rep for Lee saying: “There was a setback [on Tuesday night] due to what may be an infection post-mastectomy”.

She had six to eight weeks of radiation treatment following the surgery, E! Cuomo has cleared his schedule for the next few days to stay by Sandra’s side offering her a positive outlook and a calming effect.
