Mighty No. 9 getting trial version as apology for delay

Backers of the overwhelmingly successful Kickstarter campaign for Mighty No. 9 will soon have the opportunity to try the game firsthand.

Well, provided you’ve backed the project. It won’t be the full game, or anywhere close to it, but the studio presumably hopes the playable Mighty No. 9 demo will at least assuage the fears of those fans beginning to worry they’ll never see the game’s release. Backers have previously gotten to go hands-on with a beta version of the game, but this demo will offer new and updated content.

None of the story content in these levels is being removed; players can see all of their cutscenes.

This demo will only be available for a month after its launch on Steam on September 15. Not ironically, that was the title’s original launch date.

That something is an exclusive trial made available only to backers.

The delay announcement was unfortunate but developer Comcept has a consolation prize.

That’s frustrating but, again, I always prefer a developer to take a bit more time and make sure their game is as ready for prime time as humanly possible before unleashing it upon the public. But anyone with a decent gaming rig should be able to dive into the first three levels of Mighty No. 9 when the demo is released to backers in mid-September. It looked, played and sounded like what you would expect out of a modern Mega Man game.

However, the guys making the game are trying hard to make up for the delay and the disappointment in whatever way that is feasible to them.
